MELON_LIGHTING
Overview
This was a group effort between a team of 4 product designers. The product was developed to address circadian rhythm imbalances.
The light could be controlled via an app where color, pulse, timers and more could be adjusted. The device could even wake you up at a certain time of day with certain color modes.
The unit was manufactured from a powder coated aluminum frame and light sensitive Perspex.
Approach
The role of balance played a huge role in the visual design of the product. The round shape created some movement and added a playful aspect to the piece.
The unit incorporated a weighted base which provided stability to the unit while emphasizing the rocking element.
The unit came in two variations:
